Holiday in Bhutan

I am so excited to pen down this post and tell you guys about my recent holiday in Bhutan. Bhutan is this magical country that is totally shrouded in Buddhism! It is beautiful, mesmerizing and mystical! Memories of this holiday in Bhutan are always going to stay fresh in a corner of my heart.     The three of us (me, my brother and sister) ventured on this beautiful vacation by taking a flight via Bhutan Airlines. You won’t believe but the magic of Bhutan starts mid -air itself, when the pilot announces the names of different Himalayan mountain peaks […]

Apple Blackberry Cake

Cake topped with Apple wedges and frozen blackberries

Cake with coffee becomes so much more enjoyable in winters. This Apple Blackberry Cake is a delightful dessert for these chilly mornings. I am not much of a fruit person. Chocolate has always been my first love. But I totally enjoyed this Apple Blackberry Cake.   The recipe basically is a dense moist cake batter, topped with apple slices and frozen blackberries spiced with cinnamon. I saw the recipe at Martha Stewart’s blog and instantly loved it for its simplicity. When dusted with icing sugar, the Apple Blackberry Cake looks so festive and perfect to bake this holiday season. If […]

Banana Chocolate Streusel Cake

Hey folks!! Been a while I posted something. But I have been baking several cakes during this period as well. Sometimes for freinds, sometimes for special occasions such as raksha bandhan and I have also baked cakes without sugar for a diabetic freind. So the baking has been on in  full hustle. I will soon post a sugarfree and guilltfree recipe for our diabetic and diet conscious freinds. But till then try baking this Banana Chocolate Steusel Cake. It’s a moist fruity cake with a crunchy chocolate streusel. Perfect for our morning breakfast. We even ate it as a dessert […]

Chocolate Caramel Layer Cake

Chocolate caramel layer cake

Baked a Chocolate Caramel Layer Cake for my brother’s birthday. It’s a three layered chocolate cake with caramel frosting in between the layers and dark chocolate ganache all over. Also caramelized nuts on the top! Way awesome 😀 I know u would want to ask what is different from the earlier recipe on the blog- “Chocolate Cake with caramel buttercream and roast almond filling“. Well the caramel is different. This isn’t a caramel buttercream. It’s silky golden caramel made with condensed milk. It only takes 15 minutes to get this caramel together. The brown sugar lends it this gorgeous golden […]

Coffee Cake

Summers have never been my favourite. The heat is just intolerable. Phew! I am a winter person. I love the winters. It is such a happy season. Wish we could have a shorter summer here 🙁  Anyways, I have been avoiding baking for a long time because my sister has been away. She has been traveling. She is someone who always appreciates and criticizes my baking. Hence, her presence is absolutely essential for my baking ventures 😀 She is returning tonight so thought of baking something for her. Jyotika loves muffins or a coffee cake with her breakfast. Her eyes light […]

Tutti Fruity Cake

Tutti Fruity Cake

This is my dad’s favourite cake. He has been getting this cake from an old bakery since our childhood. He loves it. In my attempt to bake it, I had to make sure it tasted at least similar to it, if not better. It’s always a risk to bake something that can be compared to a classic. Phew!!   But luckily, he was totally impressed with it. I heard him telling mom-If she can bake it even better than his, why should I get it from outside! Voila!! That’s a huge compliment for me, because it’s really hard to get dad to appreciate […]

Coffee Streusel Cake

Coffee Streusel Cake

Usually we like our  everyday  cup  of coffee with cookies. But on some days you want something special with it 🙂 That’s the reason for baking this Coffee Streusel Cake. A coffee cakedoesn’t necessarily mean that it has coffee in it. Any cake that you can have with coffee is a coffee cake 😀 no specific  definitions for this one.   This one has a chocolate coffee flavoured streusel in it and has been baked in a Bundt pan. Streusel cakes look lovely when baked in a bundt pan, because you can appreciate the streusel much better in them. The recipe is a personal favourite and I have baked it several times before. Adapted from the […]
