Milk and cookies anyone!!
Hello fellas 🙂 Finally I am here with a cookie recipe. These Chocolate Chip Cookies have been on my mind for months.
But my earlier failed attempts at cookies had instilled a fear in me 🙁 which had kept me away from this cookie bliss.
I think I probably have hundreds of cookie recipes bookmarked. Chocolate Chip Cookies have been topmost on that list.
And finally my sister pushed me into making these Chocolate Chip Cookies.
She recently did a post on her blog (Pumpernickelpixie) regarding her love for Chocolate Chip Cookies. Clearly I got the hint 😉 and decided to bake these cuties.
These Chocolate Chip Cookies are so damn simple that you can’t go wrong with them.
The easy dough takes minutes to whip up but needs to be chilled before baking. This is necessary with all butter-based cookie recipes so that the butter in the dough can firm up before baking. This ensures that the cookies don’t spread during baking.
So go ahead and bake these simple sweet chocolatey treats. And let me know if you guys have a secret grandmother recipe for these good old chocolate chip cookies.
Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg at room temperature
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
- 2 tsp. cornflour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ¼ tsp. salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 C
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla and mix until combined.
- Add in the flour, cornflour, baking soda and salt and mix until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips by hand until just combined.
- Use a tablespoon of dough and shape into balls with hands.
- Place them on a parchment covered baking sheet at some distance from each other. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
- Flatten the balls with your hands and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are just set.
- Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack
