Summers have never been my favourite. The heat is just intolerable. Phew! I am a winter person. I love the winters. It is such a happy season. Wish we could have a shorter summer here ๐Ÿ™  Anyways, I have been avoiding baking for a long time because my sister has been away. She has been traveling. She is someone who always appreciates and criticizes my baking. Hence, her presence is absolutely essential for my baking ventures ๐Ÿ˜€ She is returning tonight so thought of baking something for her. Jyotika loves muffins or a coffee cake with her breakfast. Her eyes light […]

Pastel Layer Cake with White Chocolate Buttercream

Pastel Layer Cake

Pastel Layer Cake with White Chocolate Buttercream Hello folks!! How is it going?? Full fledged summers are finally here with the temperatures rising everyday. Phew!! My mother thinks that I am going to bake less often now as the weather is so hot and sultry. But she doesn’t know, baking has nothing to do with the weather. Today’s idea- “A Pink and Blue Pastel layer cake with white chocolate buttercream” sprung in my head because of my recent impulsive baking shopping ๐Ÿ˜€ On my recent […]

Tutti Fruity Cake

Tutti Fruity Cake

This is my dadโ€™s favourite cake. He has been getting this cake from an old bakery since our childhood. He loves it. In my attempt to bake it, I had to make sure it tasted at least similar to it, if not better. Itโ€™s always a risk to bake something that can be compared to a classic. Phew!!   But luckily, he was totally impressed with it. I heard him telling mom-If she can bake it even better than his, why should I get it from outside! Voila!! Thatโ€™s a huge compliment for me, because itโ€™s really hard to get dad to appreciate […]

Easy Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Pineapple Upside Down Cake

I am a chocolate person all the way, but that doesnโ€™t mean I donโ€™t have a thing for fruits too ๐Ÿ˜€ Okay, I like only certain fruits and I like them less than chocolate, peanut butter and caramel! But today I am in a sunshine yellow mood. Yellow for me is a very happy color. (P.S. I got my room walls painted a bright yellow once and my brother whom I then shared  my  room with was pissed off with me until the next whitewash ๐Ÿ˜› ) โ€œBright yellow with some redโ€ mood, Do you get the hint ๐Ÿ˜‰ YES, […]

Chocolate cake with Caramel Buttercream and Roast almond Filling

Chocolate Cake Caramel Buttercream

We all get so comfortable with the things we know that we stop trying new stuff and taking risks. Like, I havenโ€™t ventured into any new recipe for so long :(. But on insistence of a friend, I finally tried my hands at making Caramel. I have read the process several times earlier, but the technicality, the need of a candy thermometer and the bubbling hot cream technique are enough to scare anyone. I also read the condensed milk caramel, also called Dulce de leche. This did interest me but I didnโ€™t have condensed milk at hand. So I started with what I had, […]

The Checkerboard Cake

Checkerboard Cake

I have been eyeing the checkerboard cake on pinterest for months now. But, without the Wilton checkerboard cake pan set, it seemed a dream.   But a little research on google lead me to several recipes for baking it without those special pans. Though, it seemed complicated and too much effort , but intriguing at the same time ๐Ÿ˜€ Several recipes later, I finally found a very simplified version on Fauzias kitchen. So, basically you need 2 different coloured cakes and lots of frosting. I opted for chocolate and vanilla cakes. And, its always better to bake the cakes 1 […]

Chocolate and Peanut Butter Swirl Cake

Chocolate and Peanut Butter Swirl Cake

Whenever I am hungry and need a quick bite, I make myself a nutella and peanut butter sandwich. And the world is good  ๐Ÿ™‚  Chocolate and peanut butter is an awesome combination. Utilizing this combo, I made a swirl icing for this chocolate cake. A Swirl icing is the easiest way to present a cake. The decorated cake looks as if a lot of effort has been put in it ๐Ÿ˜‰ The  cake recipe used for this chocolate and peanut butter swirl cake has condensed milk in it and is eggless too ๐Ÿ™‚ This is also a single bowl recipe […]

Coffee Streusel Cake

Coffee Streusel Cake

Usually we like our  everyday  cup  of coffee with cookies. But on some days you want something special with it ๐Ÿ™‚ Thatโ€™s the reason for baking this Coffee Streusel Cake. A coffee cakedoesnโ€™t necessarily mean that it has coffee in it. Any cake that you can have with coffee is a coffee cake ๐Ÿ˜€ no specific  definitions for this one.   This one has a chocolate coffee flavoured streusel in it and has been baked in a Bundt pan. Streusel cakes look lovely when baked in a bundt pan, because you can appreciate the streusel much better in them. The recipe is a personal favourite and I have baked it several times before. Adapted from the […]
