I know you are wondering what’s a ”BARK” doing on a baking blog 😀
A Bark is basically a sheet of your favourite chocolate (white/dark/milk) covered with nuts, dried fruits, candies, peanut butter or some other chocolate swirled in.
The name actually comes from the resemblance of the finished product to rough pieces of a tree bark.
This is probably the simplest thing you can put together and it still doesn’t fail to impress!!
It also makes for a lovely homemade gift for your loved ones.
Another version is the Peppermint Bark- where the chocolate is topped with peppermint candies. It is popular abroad around Christmas and Thanksgiving .
Chocolate and peanut butter swirl Bark is a very quick and pretty recipe. You only need a few ingredients and little bit of time.
You can choose your favourite chocolate and experiment with the topping too.
There’s no particular technique to make a bark. You just have to be careful with the melting of the chocolate. Actually a bark requires slow tempering of your favourite chocolate over a double boiler.
Try avoiding the use of microwave to melt the chocolate for making a bark. As we need velvety smooth chocolate which has been carefully stirred throughout the process.
Now, pour it over a baking sheet lined with the parchment paper. Spread it with a spatula into an even layer . Immediately sprinkle your favourite topping over it. Refrigerate it until it firms up.
Later, peel off the parchment paper and break it into pieces.
This one’s a dark chocolate with dollops of peanut butter swirled in with a toothpick.
Its such a simple and cute recipe that I plan to make many more in future ☺
So do give it a try and let me know of your favourite combinations!!
