I have been very lazy in writing lately 🙁 Lots of posts need to be written because I keep experimenting with new recipes. Baking is the only thing which liberates me!! And the net is full of inspiration. My pinterest feed is overflowing with drool-worthy bakes. This Black and White Cake was baked for my mom’s birthday in august. It was so rich and sinful. It comprised of a vanilla cake between two chocolate cakes sandwiched with a creamy buttery condensed milk frosting and topped with dark chocolate ganache.
A slice of this Black and White Cake is nothing less than heaven. A layer cake is beautiful and impressive to bake when you have guests coming over or for any special occasion at home.
Lot of elements are required for assembling this cake. You can bake the layers a day before. The glossy white buttery frosting and the dark chocolate ganache can also be prepared in advance. Feel free to use a boxed cake for the vanilla and chocolate cakes or try my favorite vanilla sponge cake recipe that I used in the “Pastel layer cake with white chocolate buttercream“. I also have several tried and tested chocolate cake recipes up on the blog 🙂
Once the cakes are done, you can get going with the “Dark chocolate ganache“.
And now for my new favorite buttery creamy Condensed milk frosting 😀 Seriously, the star of this delicious cake tower is this silky smooth buttercream.
Ingredients
- 150 gms unsalted butter
- 350 gms icing sugar
- 2/3 cups condensed milk
Instructions
- Place room temperature butter in a large mixing bowl and beat on high with an electric mixer until fluffy.
- Add icing sugar and condensed milk and beat until smooth and fluffy.
Notes
Use superfine icing sugar for a smooth frosting!
This frosting is finger licking good 😀 It’s sweetness asserts beautifully with the bitter sweet dark chocolate ganache. All in all the Black and White Cake is easily one of my favourite cakes. Dig right in!! 🙂
